About the Role

We are seeking a skilled developer to join our team, focusing primarily on high-performance systems. While this role emphasizes Rust, we are open to strong C++ developers who are enthusiastic about being cross-trained in Rust. Your primary objective will be to maintain our existing project base and take ownership of developing new, robust backend systems.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for the full software lifecycle of our core systems. Key duties include:

Backend Focus: Designing, building, and maintaining high-performance backend services.
System Maintenance: Assuming responsibility for the stability and performance of existing projects.
New Development: Leading the development of new projects from concept to deployment.
Collaboration: Working closely with the team to define system architecture and integration points.

Potential future areas of work (depending on project needs):

Developing desktop or mobile application components.
Integrating AI inference capabilities into our systems.

You Have

Expertise in Rust OR strong proficiency in C++ with a commitment to training in Rust.
Proven experience in building and maintaining backend services.

Nice to Have

Having the following skills is highly desirable and will help you succeed in this role:

Asynchronous Programming: Proficiency with Rust’s `async/await` model, specifically using the `tokio` runtime.
Databases: Strong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL, particularly using the `sqlx` crate (without ORMs).
Monitoring & Observability: Experience with instrumentation, particularly using the `tracing` crate.
Web Frameworks: Familiarity with Rust web frameworks like `axum`.
ML/AI: Knowledge of Rust machine learning libraries and bindings (e.g., `tch-rs`, `rust-bert`, or similar).
